Rapid Science Engagement Initiative

At Kamin Science Center (formerly Carnegie Science Center), the Rapid Science Engagement Initiative (RSEI) was created to actively respond to ongoing science issues affecting the community in an accurate and accessible way. For this project, I write articles, create infographics, conduct surveys, and produce a podcast.

WV Science and Technology Policy Fellow

I was awarded a West Virginia Science and Technology Policy Fellowship through the WVU Bridge Initiative. During this time I had the privilege of being mentored by Dr. Suzanne Bentzel, the WVU Director of Government Relations. I helped with appropriations requests, generated a factsheet for ARPA-H, and met with representatives.

Society for Neuroscience Early Career Ambassador

I collaborated with other members of the Society for Neuroscience to meet with representatives for appropriations requests related to funding Neuroscience research. Additionally, I created and shared infographics on relevant science policy issues in West Virginia.

WVU Science Policy Organization

The most rewarding experience of my Ph.D. has been my time as President of the Science Policy Organization. My goal through this leadership has been two-fold: to improve relationships with STEM graduate students and members of the local policymakers and provide training in science communication for people early in their careers.

Professional Goals

My ultimate goal is to use my scientific expertise and policy knowledge to promote evidence-based decision-making and improve public health outcomes. Whether through academic research, policy analysis, or public advocacy, I am dedicated to using science to make a positive impact on society.
